The rest of the night was blissfully uneventful. In the morning, after Jaron and Nicola tended to the wounded, the Biscuits broke camp.

Englebert We'd like to travel with you for a bit, if you don't mind.
Gimar I think that would be just fine. Now tell me more about your situation in the mines.

The gnome and the dwarf chatted while riding up the road. When it came time for lunch, the companies parted ways and Gimar bid the gnomes a fond farewell.

Gimar I'll take your case up with whoever I can find in Chendl.
Englebert We appreciate that, Sir Gimar, we really do. Moraddin's speed to you.
Gimar (smiling) and may Glittergold bless your mines.

The rest of the afternoon was a quiet ride, ever onwards to Chendl.

The Biscuits reached Worlende late the next afternoon. It was a bustling town, and as they waited for the ferry they discussed the small keep that was being constructed just outside of town.

Time late afternoon

Chendl was obviously a city of war, and very nearly a casualty as well. The city walls contained large gaps, and work crews could be seen near large carts of stone and masonry. Some sort of priests or mages were working with the crews as well, but there was no discerning their function.

During the previous day's ride Thrommel had briefed them on the legal customs of the city. It seems that Chendl was not visited by many adventurers, and the open wearing of arms and armor were frowned upon by most citizens. As twilight fell, the twinkling of many continual light lanterns could be seen, lining the streets and canals of the capital.

The biscuits paused at a well-used shelter, within short ride of the main gate. As they removed their armor and weapons they read some of the graffiti and compared plans. Most of the party members had differing plans in the city for the first few days at least, so they arranged to meet for dinner in three nights at Sutters. As the last of the adventuring gear was being packed away, the Prince addressed the group.

Avras My friends, I thank you again for rescuing me from that prison. I must go into the city alone and meet with my father, the king. Within a few days he will probably ask for an audience with you, so I will arrange to have you contacted. Farewell.

With that he rode for the city gates. The rest of the biscuits followed at a more leisurely pace, and opinions varied about Thrommel's competance and sanity. After checking in at the gate, Gimar headed for the Wyrm, an inn recommended by Avras as the best in town.

Gimar (to himself) Avras was right, this is a very fine inn. Now that I am finished unpacking, I must head to court. I have to find out more information . . .

The Biscuits Little John - Fighter 4th Level (NPC)
Locale Near the Weatherhaven Inn, Chendl
Date 19th of Readying, 585 CY (Common Year)
Time mid-day

Little John . . . I have to find out more information about my friend, you see. If you cannot answer my question, please direct me to a sage who can.

The scholar sputtered a feeble answer about not having enough time and the Warrior turned and left the room. Little John was seeking information about Hannah's condition and having little luck, despite a purse full of good coin at his side.

The only other information McClane had garnered was that one of the sea princes, a Lord Ballanon, would be able to help him. As the sun began to set he turned his inquiries to caravan routes and travel times.
