When the Biscuits awoke in the morning, the majority of them went right back to sleep. They finally hit the road sometime after lunch.

Rheaphlyndar Strong stuff, eh?
Wed I like a wine that fights back.
Nicola Nice bowler hat, Wed. By the way, is it a rule that all the warriors in this group have to have beards?

Gimar had always been bewhiskered, of course, but now Jaron and Little John joined him.

This group travelled south along the same route they had taken to the north. The rolling countryside contained many farmers, out planting their fields. Late in the day the Biscuits met up with one of the seed oil convoys headed for Verbobonc, and made camp. One of the purchasers even came up and brought Rheaphlyndar an ale.

The next morning the Biscuits hit the road quite a bit earlier, and made good progress. Along the way they passed an abandoned wagon (empty), a northbound wedding procession, and a prospector and his tack. All had interesting stories to tell.

After an early supper at Zebel's Maroon Mon, the party caught one of the flat-bottomed boats across the Velverdyva. They spent the night in one of Verbobonc's nicer inns and set out early again.

From the High Gate they followed the track south and easily found the shortcut to Nulb. The mid-afternoon sun found them pulling into town and chatting with the many gnomes who were still hard at work constructing the town.

Rheaphlyndar This place looks better and better.
Gimar This gives me some ideas for Northbank.
Nicola I wonder if they found Mother Screng?
Jaron There's the inn with the free lodging. I wonder how many others have stayed there in the last few months?

Wed had already vanished to chat with his illusionist friend, and McClane was similarly nowhere to be found. After a hearty meal of fresh game and bread, the gnomish mayor climbed up on the hearth.

Mayor My friends, welcome back to Nulb. I hope you are impressed with our work here.
Gimar Here here!
Mayor I've been talking it over with the rest of the council, and we've decided to name this new road that leads to the bridge in your honor. I leave it to your party to decide on the name of that road.

Time mid-day

In the morning they made their way back along the track to the temple. Rheaphlyndar guided them through some of the traps he had set, all unsprung. Their equipment was untouched after some four months, and the party readied themselves for the descent. Finally they stood outside the main Earth Elemental room on the first level. Rheaphlyndar had stepped forward long enough to trigger the elementals, one of whom stood just twenty feet from the party. At the signal of Gimar's hurled axe, the warriors charged into the fray!

As Little John hit the Earth Elemental there was a tremendous crack of thunder and the ground shook. The Elemental creature seemed to shrug any other ill effects and its powerful roundhouse blow threw Little John to the East. Nicola grabbed her mace and followed him. Rheaphlyndar was very effective in aiming the decanter of endless water at the Elemental to the Southwest, holding it in place.

The Southwestern Elemental had vanished, but Rheaphlyndar knew he wasn't gone. Just as the paladin conked the first Elemental into dust, the one to the Southwest shot up out of the floor to challenge Gimar and Jaron. Rheaphlyndar moved quickly up to the center pyramid and braced himself against the pole, holding the Earth Elemental in the Southeast corner at bay. Wed moved to join him.

Nicola and Little John were having a powerful effect on the Northeastern Elemental, and it was about to fall. Gimar finally seemed to be up to speed and landed many blows on the Southwestern Elemental, but it gave as good as it got. Wed gave the signal and Rheaphlyndar shut off the geyser.

The Crack of Wed's lightning bolt was felt through the room, and it seemed to have a powerful effect on the water-soaked Elemental. Seeing that the mage was out of range, the Elemental turned on the next best target, Little John and walloped him good. However, rising from the muddy dirt behind the only remaining Elemental was another!

Nicola Oh damn.
Gimar (smiling) That one's on our side.

The two giant mounds of earth battled, and the Biscuits stepped back. As they pounded each other they sunk into the ground, and it was impossible to tell just who had won.

Gimar Perhaps they've taken their conflict back to the elemental plane.
Wed Perhaps the new one left a gateway open so the old one could escape.
Rheaphlyndar Perhaps there's treasure buried here!
