The Biscuits continued on their merry way to Leukish. Wed commented that the rolling hills of the Northern Duchy were truly beautiful. Cool breezes blew off the Nyr Dyv, stifling the heat of the day.

Gimar Lots of people around.
Nicola Yes, it seems like we are never far from another village.
Wed Well, you know, as we head east we also move back through time. These lands were settled long before your lands around Northbank.
Gimar Aye. With this many people, the Duchy must have had quite an army.
Jaron Bah, an army with no immediate enemy. They supported Nyrond and the West during the Wars, but their safety is intact.
Rheaphlyndar How much further to Leukish?
Wed (examining his map) Another day at least. We'd best find a place to stay.
Nicola Has anyone seen an inn recently?
Gimar Perhaps we should ask around.

The party did just that, and was directed to a large farmer's house in the next village. Gimar didn't quite catch the name of it, but it was probably similar to the last three they'd passed, "Tekoa", "Oakesdale", and "Garfield".

That night, the Biscuits dined on spiced sausages and fresh onions. Their Oeridian host, old farmer Quiggle, regaled them with a tale he'd heard from other travellers, and was as accomplished as any bard.

Quiggle East of here, between Nyrond and the Great Kingdom, is a great forest known as the Adri. That vast stand of trees has never been fully logged nor mapped, and contained within is rumoured to be a lost elven city.

The farmer continued on, telling tales of a group of travelers who found not the elven city but instead a bitter cold wasteland, fraught with dangerous monsters. He relayed the tale of another traveler who found not a cold forest but instead a hot dry desert as far as the eye can see, occupied by creatures of elemental fire.

Gimar Does this place exist?
Quiggle Many myths are based on truth.
Wed (Thinking of the fading lands) Hmmm

Jaron responded with the tale of the Ankheg Battle near Chendl, and the elder farmer nodded, taking in the whole story, and thanking them afterwards.

The next morning, the farmer's sons led the Biscuit's horses around from the barn, all freshly brushed and groomed. The party's offer of payment was refused, and the party left somewhat unwillingly. Dollin later assuaged their consciences by describing the anticipated results of his Plant Growth spell; cast by the light of Oerth's twin waining moons.

The group made good time through well-settled lands, passing through many more small communities. On this day there were many more opportunities to buy fresh berries and fruits; many of the Biscuits hardly touched their rations for the day.

About fifteen miles south of Leukish, they passed a large building that Rheaphlyndar guessed was the local prison. By dusk, they topped yet another rolling green hill and could just see the lights of Leukish below them.

The southern section of the Duchy's capital city was on a plateau, and from there they both sloped down to the north to the docks on the Nyr Dyv. The buildings visible from the road were tall and narrow, with pointy arches and square towers. As the Biscuits drew closer, they could see that the roofs and towers were also steeply peaked.

As the Biscuits rode into the largest city in the Duchy, they discussed what they would try to accomplish.

Gimar Maps, maps, maps.
Wed I'll go with you; I hear the library here is pretty large.
Jaron I'd like to check out Leukish Castle.
Rheaphlyndar I still have a few items to purchase.
Gimar Say, keep an eye out for a dwarven smith, would ya?
Rheaphlyndar Check.
