After leaving Leukish, the Biscuits headed east along the banks of the Nyr Dyv. The cool breeze off the lake covered most of the heat of the midsummer day.

By afternoon they passed through the town of Nesserhead, and Dollin remembered the first time he travelled upriver to the lake as a young lad. As the party continued east, he also told the story of the Giant Otter he had seen on that voyage.

Nightfall saw them camped at a travellers rest, apparently half-way between Leukish and a town called Stillwater. Dollin and Gimar worked replenishing a stack of dry wood in the camp area.

Wed Based on the map, we should make Nellix in three more days.
Gimar If we keep a good pace of travel, that is.
Yodavan (eagerly) I am ready to learn more spells, Wed.
Wed In a moment. I'd just like to take a look at these wonderful stars.

The sky was quite clear, and the stars were bright pin pricks in the night sky. The smoke from the party's campfire blew towards the lake they had so recently left behind, and Dollin cooked up some of the red onions that Jaron purchased on the road.

Despite being in such settled lands, the Biscuits kept a regular watch. In truth Gimar found it a hard habit to break. Morning saw a cooler day with a misty fog that must have rolled off the lake and down the river, and the warrior thought of the mistmarsh near his own humble home.

The party continued east to Stillwater, where they stayed at a modest inn. The locals served a dark wine that had a wonderful flavor.

Jaron This is a very good wine, and quite comparable to the finest of Keoland.
Innkeeper It's the casks, made from the finest oaks in the Celadon.

The next day, the party continued south through a cooler day and stronger wind. By late afternoon they reached a signpost indicating they were entering the Palten region. Little John and Nicola headed down to a wide spot in the river while the rest of the travellers rested By the time they were ready to go, the pair returned with three fine trout.

Dollin That will make a fine dinner tonight!

As they travelled further south, the northern edges of the Celadon were just visible to the east before the fog really set in. The fish was very tasty, and Rheaphlyndar shared some of the fine dark wine around with it.

Before long, the clammy mist was crawling into the edge of the camp, and most of the Biscuits made for their bedrolls early. Nicola slept restlessly, with dreams of the undead marauding her sleep.

In the morning, the light of Pelor shone brightly and burned off most of the fog before the party was ready to travel. By late morning they reached the junction of the smaller river leading up to Nellix. The rest of the way they talked of their plans to travel through the swamp and across the great Sea of Gearnat.

Wed we should reach Nellix by dusk.
Dollin I know of an old family friend in Nellix whose brother owns a small boat, but I should probably meet with him in the morning.
Gimar So we should plan to spend the day in Nellix?
Dollin Most of it - we are two days away from my folk's place no matter how you travel.

The Biscuit did indeed reach Nellix Town at dusk, and they made their plans for the next day's activities.

Jaron Care to accompany me to the local market, Nicola?
Nicola Why I'd be delighted.
Yodavan (addressing wed) I really want to learn a few more spells.
Wed We shall redouble your efforts, then.
Yodavan Whatever you say, teach!
Gimar Say, Little John, I've been meaning to discuss a few things with you.
Little John Suits me, how about lunch tomorrow?
Gimar You're buying.

Rheaphlyndar just smiled, knowing he could easily find something to occupy himself for a day.

The Dwarven Priest waited patiently, working on yet another Banthor's Best. He thought to himself that he should probably get up to Dyvers one day and visit this great ale at it's source.

He looked up to see the arrival of his old friend and adventuring companion, Nigel. The warrior was a well-tanned veteran of many campaigns, and most recently involved in the Greyhawk Wars.

Falgrim Nige, great to see you.
Nigel Falgrim old chap, it's good to wear the armor again. So what's the mission?
Falgrim We're waiting for Connor and Faenya to meet us here before we head up to Hommlet. Also, I've hired a local ranger to help guide us, one thirteenth share as usual.
Nigel What's waiting for us up in those hills?
Falgrim I have a really good source which says there are monsters living within the former Temple of Elemental Evil.
Nigel (smiling) To the Emerald Blades!
Falgrim (raising his glass) Here here!

Although it took a while, Dollin found his contact and arranged a journey southwards on the flat-bottomed riverboat. He would take them all the way through the gnatmarsh, along with a small cargo of precious gems that he was supposed to transport. The party would act as guards in lieu of a charged passage.

Since the boat wouldn't leave for a day or two, and was taking a roundabout track, he figured that he would have about three days to spend with his folks. He was whistling as he walked when a local constable bumped into him.

Constable (gruffly) Watch where you're going.
Dollin (bending to pick up a few oakleaves he dropped) It was you who bumped into me, but I shall try to avoid you in the future.
Constable See that you do. Say, you're a druid, right?
Dollin That's right, my party and I have just arrived from Leukish.
Constable Well okay, it's a good thing you aren't from the Celadon.
Dollin I originally hail from there. What seems to be the . . .
Constable Oh you do, hey? In that case you are under arrest!
